Description
Summer savory tastes a little like Thyme but a bit more subtle, it’s lovely mixed with olive oil and used on meat or fish dishes.
Sow directly from April, after danger of frost has passed. Surface broadcast sow onto prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Just cover seed with soil. Keep moist. Ideal temp. 18-20°C. Germination takes 14-21 days but can take longer. Thin seedlings when large enough to handle to 15cm spacing. Harvest leaves just before the plant comes into flower or from 15cm height. Regular pinching out and harvesting ensures further supply of leaves and promotes a stronger, bushier plant. Leaves can be used fresh or dried.
