Description

Stands tall, crunchy and best of all it doesn’t need earthing up! A self-blanching golden type, I’ve saved the seed but it was originally called ‘golden self-blanching’.

• Sow seed April – June, don’t sow any earlier as plants can bolt.  Sow undercover in modules, seed trays or small pots. Sow onto surface of compost but do not cover seed as it needs light to germinate. I cover with glass which helps hold moisture and keep out of full sun. Germination  is slow and can take 14 days. Once germinated, prick out into individual modules and move to a position with plenty of light.
• Final planting – May – June. Plant approx 25 cm apart. After about a month the plants should be big enough to plant into their final position either direct into soil/compost
