Sweetcorn

Easy to grow. Sow indoors always into modules as direct sowing may suffer due to rodent attack! Sow into modules filled with compost from April to May and grow on until ready to plant out. They are really for growing in a bed and not suited to containers, they also like a lot of water.
Sow approx 1 cm deep and cover with the same amount of compost, keep moist and keep away from mice, its a common sight to see your modules with little holes where the seeds have been!
Plant out from May as they need warmth to produce cobs, space about 30cm apart, they like to be planted in a grid patten, not a long row if possible. They don’t like frost so check your last frost dates before planting out.When the cob tassles are brown they’re ready to pick and should be deliciously sweet.
