Endive
- Sow seed in June – September. Sow undercover in seed trays or small pots and cover with a light covering of compost, or you can sow direct into prepared ground ( not ideal as slugs love it). Prick out into modules and keep in plenty of light, once pricked out grow on in modules until ready to plant out which is approx 3 weeks.
- Final planting space at 30cm or closer if your harvesting for leaves . They follow on from onion or carrot for second cropping in August or through winter. If sown in late August, these will stand through winter and provide some good leaf through the cold months. They would benefit from a fleece cover at this time or grow inside a poly tunnel or greenhouse from August onwards
