A perennial but once established it’s a topper of a plant for flowers for the bees and of course in the kitchen.
Sow directly. Sow seeds thinly 10mm deep into drills of finely prepared soil. Drills 30cm apart. Seedbed should be in full sun and moist. When large enough to handle thin seedlings to 25cm spacing. Can be started indoors. Sow onto surface of moist well-drained seed compost. Cover with a sprinkling of compost. Propagate 18-21°C. Germination takes 14-21 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed with 30cm spacing. Will self seed. I chop mine down after flowering and often get a second flush. Propagate by division in Spring.
