With it’s lacy white flowers it’s a soft delicate umbellifer which resembles a more delicate cow parsley and is gorgeous as a cut flower and loved by the bees too.
Sow seed under cover from February ( can also be sown late September for the following year) into modules or seed trays and cover with a light covering of compost. Keep moist. You can use heat like a heat mat to help germinate, this is not essential but germination will be better if somewhere warm like a warm house or airing cupboard is used ( this is the case for pretty much most seed ). Once germinated move off heat and place in a sunny area. If using seed trays to start as opposed to individual modules, then once seedlings have two leaves, prick out individually into modules and grow on, hold them by the leaf to move them not by the stem ( see my video on YouTube to show you how). Plant out from April.
If you are using direct sowing methods, then sow March-May. Thin/plant spring sowings to 30cm apart, they are very small the seed so just rake lightly in. These plants can reach up to 1m so place mid to back of border. If pot growing, use a large pot and perhaps mix with Cosmos and use some twigs as stakes as they will need support. Make sure you stake twigs in early to avoid breaking the plant.
