Cucamelons are vigorous climbing plants that produce tiny grape-sized fruits with a refreshing cucumber-lime flavour.

Sowing
Sow indoors April–May. Sow seeds 0.5–1cm deep into small pots or modules filled with moist, free-draining compost. Germination takes 7–14 days at 20–24°C. A heat mat will speed things up.

Once seedlings have two true leaves, pot on if needed and grow on somewhere bright.

Planting Out
Harden off and plant out after all danger of frost has passed. Space 30–45cm apart. Provide strong vertical support such as canes, netting or trellis.

Growing On
Prefers a sunny, sheltered position and well-drained soil enriched with compost. Water regularly but do not allow to sit in soggy soil.

Harvest
Pick when fruits are grape-sized. Regular picking encourages more production. Harvest before first frost
