Dianthus Deltoides Pink

One of my favourites to grow in a pot. Dark glossy leaves with a bright pink flower with very slender stems bearing a succession of very pretty, pink to deep rose flowers from late spring to early autumn.

Sow indoors. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Cover with a fine layer of vermiculite. Propagate 15-20°C. Germination takes 14-30 days. Do not exclude light as this aids germination. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed. Prefers rich, light , well-drained soil with full sun.

Deadhead to extend flowering and to maintain plant vigour. After the first killing frost cut all stems back to 2-4 cm above soil line. You can divide in spring as new growth appears if you want to propagate.
