• Garlic are grown from individual cloves and can be planted in Autumn or in Spring. Advantage of planting in Autumn is that the cloves will have more time to grow than planting in Spring but in both cases the bulb fattens in early summer and is ready to harvest in July. I have had equal success planting in Spring and Autumn it will just depend on the space you have.
  • Use the biggest cloves you have and plant them in holes pointed end upwards and cover with approx. 2.5cm soil above their tips. Space them 15cm apart.
